Soil Temperature Gradient (STG-400)
The Data Dolphin provides the accuracy of a laboratory instrument in the harsh conditions of the field environment. Complete with a submersible and crush proof enclosure and custom sized and spaced thermistor string with up to 13 locations (8 high resolution, 5 standard resolution). The ultra-high resolution 24 bit analog to digital section also provides the option of 4 differential bipolar inputs with resolution down to 90 nanovolts.
Data is stored in a non-volatile flash memory module that gives long term storage without worry of loss due to dead battery. The data is stored in a database structure, allowing you to add or delete inputs on the fly without having to restart the data logger. Data Dolphin 2 Software is used to download the recorded data from the DD-400, and it can be graphed or exported to a .csv file.
Designed for field use it’s operating temperature range goes from – 40C(-55C special order) to over 75 C and all inputs have static protection and glands on the enclosure are fully sealed.
- 8 x 24 Bit A/D High Resolution Analog Inputs
- 5 x 10 Bit A/D Standard Resolution Inputs
- Low Power Battery Operation
- Digital Communications
- Custom Built Thermistor String with Water Barrier Cable
- Crush Proof Submersible Enclosure
- Graphing and Reporting Via Data Dolphin Software
- 4MB Non-Volatile Flash Memory
Available from Optimum Instruments is a very rugged custom made thermistor string for monitoring soil, water or air temperature. This sensor is sealed and comes with water barrier cable. For monitoring air temperature, a solar radiation shield can be purchased to pole mount the thermistor and further protect it. For soil monitoring applications, just specify the necessary length and spacing of the thermistors and it will be made to fit your spec.
The enclosure is crush proof, water and air tight, and available in black, red and bright yellow. Sealed glands depending on the thermistor string or sensor configuration ensure the environment being monitored, stays out.
Lithium battery packs mean long battery life, and making less frequent replacements. Packs are made at Optimum Instruments facility with built in super capacitors, with as many cells as requested. Typical amp hours from our packs are 16 and 32, which depending on sample rates, puts battery life into years.
